On the solvability of a boundary value problem for a fourth-order ordinary differential equation
We study the existence and multiplicity of nontrivial periodic solutions for a semilinear fourth-order ordinary differential equation arising in the study of spatial patterns for bistable systems. Variational tools such as the Brezis–Nirenberg theorem and Clark theorem are used in the proofs of the main results. © 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. MSC: 34B15; 34C25; 35K35
متن کاملExistence of positive solutions for a boundary value problem of a nonlinear fractional differential equation
This paper presents conditions for the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for a boundary value problem of a nonlinear fractional differential equation. We show that it has at least one or two positive solutions. The main tool is Krasnosel'skii fixed point theorem on cone and fixed point index theory.
متن کاملSolvability of a Four-point Boundary-value Problem for Fourth-order Ordinary Differential Equations
In this paper we investigate the existence of solutions of a class of four-point boundary-value problems for fourth-order ordinary differential equations. Our analysis relies on a fixed point theorem due to Krasnoselskii and Zabreiko.
متن کاملExistence of weak solutions for a boundary value problem of a second order ordinary differential equation
where the functions f , g : [0, 1]× R→ R and h : [0, 1]× R→ R\{0} satisfy some special assumptions that will be given in detail in Section 3. Boundary value problems arise in a variety of applied mathematics and physics areas (refer to [1, 2] etc.). Some boundary value problems of ordinary equations may be turned into (1.1)-(1.2). For example, in the design of bridge, denote u(t) by the displac...
متن کاملSolvability for a System of Nonlinear Fractional Higher–order Three–point Boundary Value Problem
Existence of eigenvalues yielding single and multiple positive solutions for a system of higher order fractional differential equations along with boundary conditions is established. The results are obtained by the use of a Guo-Krasnosel’skii fixed point theorem in cones.
